65 year old man tragically killed in a head-on truck crash in Georgia

Last updated Tuesday, November 15th, 2022

An East Dublin man was killed in a truck crash in Georgia on Monday, October 31 at an intersection of GA-29 and Bank Street, the Georgia State Patrol reported.

The troopers say a Chevrolet pickup truck lost control and crossed into the other line at 8.30 MM. An incoming Ford Explorer, driven by 65-year-old Marvin Ricky Foskey, was then struck head-on by the truck. The violent collision extensively damaged the front ends of both vehicles.

A number of emergency responders, including paramedics and firefighters, responded to the scene. Foskey died of traumatic injuries at the scene of the collision. A few other people were also injured as a result of the collision.

Two children were referred to the Augusta Hospital while three adults were also taken to local hospitals following the crash, however, their conditions are unknown.

At this time, it is still not clear what caused the truck to veer off its line. Officers are investigating the accident and more information will be shared as it becomes available.

With deep sorrow, we extend our condolences to the Foskey family for their heartbreaking loss in this terrible tragedy. Our hopes are also with the injured victims for a quick recovery.

A truck crash in Georgia can be life-threatening

Truckers live a hard life. Working long hours under constant pressure to meet targets is often the cause of tragic consequences for other road users. Unfortunately, truck drivers sometimes act negligently, and leave the victims’ families devastated.

It is not very difficult to prevent most truck accidents if the driver follows safe driving practices, including:

  • Taking regular breaks to avoid sleeping at the wheel
  • Being aware of internal and external distraction
  • Speeding on curves or city roads
  • Driving too fast for the conditions to react quickly to an unexpected situation
