Last updated Tuesday, November 15th, 2022
Georgia State Patrol reports that one person was killed in a Georgia truck accident on North GA 26 and Highway 80 West in Brooklet on November 6, Sunday afternoon.
Brooklet Police Department officials say a large cotton-hauling truck slammed into the Honda van at the intersection for reasons that remain unclear. There was extensive damage to both the vehicles involved in the accident. A collision investigation is underway.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene to assist those in need. According to the police, when they arrived, they found three people trapped inside the Honda van and tried to evict them, only to discover that the rear-seat passenger was unresponsive. The passenger, later identified as Virbalaben Bhatt, 80, tragically lost her life due to the brutal impact of the crash.
Honda’s driver and front seat passenger suffered critical injuries, with their conditions unknown as of now.
Traffic on the highway was rerouted for several hours until police cleared the scene, which caused delays for a while.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased woman in their pain and sorrow. Our prayers are also with the injured victims for a speedy recovery.
