Multi-vehicle crash in Georgia leaves many injured
Last updated Tuesday, November 15th, 2022
A major multi-vehicle crash in Georgia at around 5 PM on Wednesday, November 9 left many people injured.
Ellenwood highway responders reported that a number of vehicles collided near exit 7 of I-675, Anvil Block Road.
The violent collision caused such severe damage to the involved vehicles that they had to be towed away from the scene. In light of the devastating crash, only a single lane of traffic was opened for an extended period of time, resulting in a slow traffic flow and delays beyond anyone’s control.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene for immediate medical attention. The victims were then taken to the nearest hospital for more specialized treatment. Detailed information about their injuries has not yet been released.
At this time, it still needs to be clarified how the crashes began. Officers are investigating the accident and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
We wish a quick recovery to all the injured victims and hope they emerge relatively unharmed.
Multi-vehicle crash in Georgia could have been prevented
Most multi-car collisions are preventable. Generally, they are caused by drivers accelerating out of annoyance or fatigue, reckless tailgating, overdriving during rain or snow, and being distracted, or under the influence.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that a staggering 94% of traffic accidents are caused by driver error.
Most road accidents can be prevented if drivers follow safe driving practices, which include:
- Staying calm in heavy traffic
- Avoid distractions at all costs – music, calls, and texts can all wait
- Overspeeding is dangerous during rush hour
- Drinking and driving is not a good idea
